General Description:

The Pacific Lutheran University School of Business invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track assistant/associate positions in Finance starting Fall 2018. Applicants should be able to provide instruction in Finance at the undergraduate and graduate level, including MBA and MSF classes. In addition to coverage of introductory and/or intermediate level courses, preference will be given to candidates who will be prepared to teach in Master of Science programs.

The programs in the School of Business have been continuously accredited by AACSB International since 1971. Faculty and staff seek to advance the University’s vision of academic distinction through enhanced global focus, student-faculty collaboration in research and service projects and by helping students find their own paths to meaningful and successful lives. The School has a mission of producing graduates with character and competence to be leaders in their communities and in the enterprises they serve. The School of Business supports these goals by maintaining a balanced faculty load for teacher-scholars.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

-Teach undergraduate and graduate finance courses. Teaching at the graduate level in MBA and MSF is expected.
-Produce and publish impactful scholarly research.
-Contribute to the University and the School of Business through relevant service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Collegial faculty with demonstrated significant professional or academic engagement in accordance with our AACSB International accreditation.

Required Qualifications:

-Terminal degree in Finance or a closely related field. ABD will be considered, but the terminal degree must be in hand by September 1, 2018.
-Evidence of commitment to teaching, research, and service.
-Research training.
-Applicant must have the ability to, after receiving an offer of or after starting employment, provide proof of US Citizenship or a current valid visa to work in this country, without any support from PLU.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Ph.D. in a Finance-related field from a university with an AACSB accredited program is strongly preferred.
-CFA Certification.
-Preference for previous teaching experience in Finance.
-Preference will be given to candidates who will be prepared to teach in Master of Science programs.
-Preference for candidates who are academically qualified with respect to PLU’s AACSB International accreditation. Being academically qualified includes a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed scholarship – or the potential to achieve one.
-Preference for collegial faculty who view themselves foremost as educators, possess a commitment to scholarship to inform their teaching, and will support our students in the search for meaningful lives in the global economy.
